Sunday was a special day for the Governor of the State of Sergipe, Marcelo Deda. He had the opportunity to speak for an hour in front of Freemasons from all over Brazil, and the opportunity to highlight the growth of Sergipe in the last four years. The event took place in the Hall of the Mercure Hotel. Deda began his conference by talking about the role of Sergipe's economy in the national economy. "The state's role in this new Brazil is a theme I want to debate with you," said the Governor.

The governor noted that this opportunity is a great honor, given that dialogue with one of the oldest organizations of humanity, which over the centuries, developed on the planet. "The organization passed over difficult times in Western history, including the French Revolution, the Enlightenment, bringing to America the values of freedom, tolerance, rationality and democracy. It came to Brazil to become one of the milestones in building the nation, making an extraordinary work," stated Governor enthusiastically.
Marcelo Deda revealed the figure of José Bonifacio de Andrade Silva, the first Grand Master, and also the figure of Emperor Pedro I, who found in Freemasonry the political, ideological and doctrinaire support. "In Freemasonry he found the political substance to assume the role that history reserved it," pointed Deda.
The conference was attended by the Vice Governor (Jackson Barreto), the Secretary of Tourism (Elber Batalha Filho), Secretary of Planning and Management (José de Oliveira Junior) and the State Government's economic adviser, Ricardo Lacerda.
