Last day of the 40th CMSB


CMSB's General Assembly official program for the last day began with the Plenary of the Grand Masters of the Confederation, event that took place ​​in the auditorium of Radisson Hotel. Were discussed social topics.

At this point simultaneously takes place the Plenary and the seminar for the Grand Secretaries on Foreign Affairs and a conference held by Brother Wilson Filomeno (Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Santa Catarina). The theme chosen for the conference is "History of Freemasonry and of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite."
As of 20:00 o'clock (in the convention center) will be held the official closing ceremony and dinner gala of the General Assembly. CMSB's next edition will take place in Rio Branco, capital of the Brazilian state of Acre.

Vanderlei Valente will coordinate the Symbolic Freemasonry of Brazil


Vanderlei Valente Freitas was elected Secretary-General of the Confederation of Symbolic Masonry of Brazil (CMSB). The election was held yesterday during the General Assembly. Brother Valente received 18 votes in favor of his election.

Valente Freitas won the electoral race with the Past Grand Master of Espirito Santo, Brother Sérgio Gianórdoli, and he will be installed during the last day of the General Assembly. "It is one of the biggest challenges of my life. I want to thank the Masonic community of Acre to its contribution to this moment of glory for the State of Acre," stated the new Secretary-General.
This function that he will handle is the most important function in the Brazilian Freemasonry. Valente Freitas will be the organizer of the Masonic movement in Brazil and the guarantor of the unity of the institution.
"I had to overcome many obstacles. One of these was the distrust of people who did not believe in our ability to manage things well. We have full confidence that we are prepared to fulfill this mission entrusted to us."
Before being elected head of the Confederation of Symbolic Masonry of Brazil, Vanderlei Valente Freitas was Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Acre, already having four years experience as Deputy Secretary General of CMSB.
He has a mandate of two years and may be reelected for another term of two years. Together with the Grand Master of Acre, Brother Pedro Longo, Valente Freitas will have to organize the next General Assembly of the CMSB, an event to be held in Rio Branco.
"We will organize an event to perform to all expectations. I am certain that our Grand Master will help us to achieve this wonderful meeting."

Plenary of CMSB's Grand Masters


The second day opened the Plenary of Grand Masters of CMSB, which began with the presentation of the agenda for committee discussion. The Grand Secretaries on Foreign Affairs took part in a seminar dedicated to them.

Governor of Sergipe attended the XL General Assembly of the CMSB


Sunday was a special day for the Governor of the State of Sergipe, Marcelo Deda. He had the opportunity to speak for an hour in front of Freemasons from all over Brazil, and the opportunity to highlight the growth of Sergipe in the last four years. The event took place in the Hall of the Mercure Hotel. Deda began his conference by talking about the role of Sergipe's economy in the national economy. "The state's role in this new Brazil is a theme I want to debate with you," said the Governor.

The governor noted that this opportunity is a great honor, given that dialogue with one of the oldest organizations of humanity, which over the centuries, developed on the planet. "The organization passed over difficult times in Western history, including the French Revolution, the Enlightenment, bringing to America the values ​​of freedom, tolerance, rationality and democracy. It came to Brazil to become one of the milestones in building the nation, making an extraordinary work," stated Governor enthusiastically.
Marcelo Deda revealed the figure of José Bonifacio de Andrade Silva, the first Grand Master, and also the figure of Emperor Pedro I, who found in Freemasonry the political, ideological and doctrinaire support. "In Freemasonry he found the political substance to assume the role that history reserved it," pointed Deda.
The conference was attended by the Vice Governor (Jackson Barreto), the Secretary of Tourism (Elber Batalha Filho), Secretary of Planning and Management (José de Oliveira Junior) and the State Government's economic adviser, Ricardo Lacerda.

Opening of the XL General Assembly of CMSB


The official opening of the event was conducted ​​by the general coordinator, Antônio Fontes Freitas. He told all the attendees the personal and political life of the Governor Marcelo Déda. "He is one of political forces in Sergipe. It also is one of the greatest orators in the country. With his conference, you will be convinced of what I say," he stated.

The opening ceremony took place on July 2nd in Aracaju, and it was attended by over 1,500 Freemasons and by 27 Grand Masters. As Grand Master of Sergipe, José Valter stated, the objective of the meeting is to discuss the internal problems of the Masonic institution, and external problems of social interest. "All the Grand Masters of Brazil are present and also some of the South American countries, including representatives of the Inter-American Masonic Confederation", stated the Grand Master of Sergipe.

Sergipe will receive over 1,500 Freemasons from Brazil and some from South American countries


From July 2nd to 7th, Sergipe will receive over 1,500 Freemasons from Brazil and some from South American countries, Fellows of the Craft attending the XL Ordinary General Assembly of the Confederation of Symbolic Masonry of Brazil. Considered the largest and most important Masonic event in Brazil, the meeting will take place at the Radisson Hotel.

The reunion program is vast. Includes conferences dedicated to profanes, Freemasons and visits to tourist attractions in the city. The Official opening will take place in the Theater Tobias Barreto, at 20:00. The official cocktail will be held in Convention Center, immediately after the official opening.
The participants will be able to listen to the Rector of of the University of Tiradentes Joubert Uchôa de Mendonça, on the third day of the meeting starting at 9:00. Governor Marcelo Deda will also be one of the lecturers during the annual meeting of CMSB. The last conference will be supported by the Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Santa Catarina (former Secretary General of the CMSB), Brother Wilson Filomeno.
There will be representations of folk, the guests will taste the traditional cuisine in order to illustrate the cultural diversity of Sergipe.

Masonic Grand Lodge of the State of Sergipe

The Masonic Grand Lodge of the State of Sergipe was founded on November 15th, 1983, and its Constitutive Charter was issued by the Masonic Grand Lodge of the State of Alagoas, led at the time by Most Worshipful Grand Master Ismar Nascimento having as Deputy Grand Master Brother Antonio Fontes Freitas. At that time the Grand Lodge of Alagoas had 7 Masonic Lodges in Sergipe.
The first Masonic Lodge in Sergipe, working under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Alagoas was the SETE DE SETEMBRO Lodge #9, from which were born another six other Lodges: LUZES DA SERRA, UNID DA SERRA, SERIGY LUZES DA PIEDADE, TIRADENTES and ESTRELA DA MATA.
The foundation of the Grand Lodge of Sergipe was primarily the merit of Ismar Nascimento and Antonio Fontes Freitas, who understood the need for these Lodges in Sergipe. On the evening of November 15th, 1983 was founded the Grand Lodge. In March 1984, the Grand Lodge of Sergipe was received in CMSB. Today the Grand Lodge has 13 Lodges in its jurisdiction.
